Life doesn’t stop when you need surgery. Fortunately, in the hands of our expert surgeons, da Vinci surgical technology provides the ability to perform complex surgical procedures with incredible precision and very tiny incisions. This minimally invasive approach allows us to deliver advanced surgical care to our patients with fewer side effects, faster recoveries, and shorter hospital stays. Now that’s Simply Smarter Surgical Care.
The da Vinci Surgical System is designed to provide surgeons with enhanced capabilities, including high-definition 3D vision and a magnified view. Though it is often called a “robot,” da Vinci cannot act on its own. The surgery is performed entirely by your doctor. He or she controls the da Vinci System, which translates all hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body. Together, da Vinci technology allows your doctor to perform complex procedures through just a few tiny openings. As a result, you can get back to your life without the usual recovery following major surgery. The da Vinci System has been used successfully worldwide in hundreds of thousands of procedures to date.
When you have a total joint procedure, you want the your surgeons to be as precise as possible. The Mako system provides you with a personalized surgical experience based on your specific diagnosis and anatomy. With the system, your surgeon can use a virtual 3D model, from a CT scan,
to create a surgical plan pre-operatively. This plan helps them determine the implant size, orientation, and alignment. This virtual model and pre-op plan help guide your surgeon to know as much as they can about your anatomy before surgery. Then, during surgery, your surgeon will validate the plan and make any necessary adjustments while using the robotic arm to execute it.
Recent case studies have shown that robotic-arm assisted joint replacement may also be associated with decreased pain, improved early functional recovery, and reduced hospital stays. These benefits are likely due to the fact that robotic-arm assisted joint replacement reduces bone and tissue trauma since operating is limited to the pre-determined boundaries based on the damaged bone. Fisher-Titus is the only hospital in the region to offer this technology for our patients.
da Vinci Robotic-Assisted Surgery is a minimally invasive procedure where complex surgical procedures are performed with incredible precision and tiny incisions. Our surgeons are equipped to perform hysterectomies, prostate removal, partial nephrectomies, and abdominal and inguinal hernias.
As with any surgery, these benefits cannot be guaranteed since surgery is unique to each patient and procedure.
