Pediatric Therapy Programs

In Session This Summer 2018:

Sensory Friendly Safety Town

Sensory Friendly Safety Town is an offering of Safety Town in collaboration with Fisher-Titus Medical Center, the Norwalk Police Department and the Norwalk Rotary that has been adapted for children with disabilities. We will teach children how to make safe choices when crossing the street, how to take action in emergency situations, fire safety, medication safety, and more. In addition, the following will be provided at Sensory Friendly Safety Town: visual schedules, 1:1 volunteer support, a modified Safety Town Curriculum, and take-home social stories on emergency situations.

Where: Main Street School
When: Monday - Thursday, 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m.
Dates: 6/25 - 6/28
Ages: 6 and up

Drawing on Strengths with Teens-Art Therapy Group

An art therapy group designed to help pre-teens and teenagers with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, anxiety, and other disabilities develop self-awareness, coping, creativity and improve relationship skills. Each group member can work on any issue/problem that they are currently dealing with in their life.

Where: The Kids' Place at Fisher-Titus Medical Center
When: Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Art will be Displayed at the Visions Revealed Exhibit on July 13
Dates: 6/12, 6/19 6/26, 7/10
Ages: 13 and up
Cost: $150

Keep it Simple: Adapted Cooking Camp

This week-long program is designed to promote social skills, language skills, and problem solving abilities during cooking activities. This year’s focus will be on “keeping it simple!” with basic and delicious recipes that allow the participants to gain autonomy in the kitchen while in a safe and fun environment. Material fees are included with the cost of the program. This group is for children ages 8 and up with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, and other neurological disorders.

When: Monday thru Thursday, 10 a.m. - Noon
Dates: 6/25 - 6/28
Ages: 8 and up

Creative Campers with Super Heroes!

This week-long program is designed to promote social skills, language skills, and problem solving abilities during fun summer activities and crafts centered on the theme of Super Heroes! Crafts and activities will involve kids’ favorite heroes and villains from various shows and comic books! Material fees are included with the cost of the program. This group is for children ages 5-12 with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, and other neurological disorders.

When: Monday thru Thursday, 10 a.m. - Noon
Dates: 6/18 - 6/21
Ages: 5 - 12
Cost: $100


SMILE Group -“Sensory Motor Integrated Learning Experience” for children on the Autism Spectrum

A six-week program designed for children with autism spectrum and/ or sensory disorders. This group will provide fun and structured play/ learning experiences with basic social skills included. Emphasis will be on sensory and motor activities, including simple obstacle courses, finger plays, tactile play, snack time, group games, and fine motor coordination games.

Where: Jennings Auditorium at Fisher-Titus Medical Center
When: *Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Dates: 6/21, 6/28, 7/9 (*Monday), 7/19, 7/26, 8/2
Ages: 3-6
