In Session This Summer 2017:

Dance and Performance Camp

A week-long dance camp that culminates with a dance recital that is featured in our “ASK Evening at the Arts!” At Dance and Performance Camp, children will learn themed, structured dance routines that are fun and educational. This camp promotes social skills, builds confidence, and improves motor coordination in a fun group environment. This group is appropriate for children who are ages 5-10 and who have autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, developmental, and neurological disorders.

Where: Norwalk High School Performing Arts Center
When: M-F, 10:30 a.m. – Noon
Dates: 7/17-7/21 with performance on Friday, 7/21
Ages: 5-10
Cost: $160


Drawing on Strengths with Teens-Art Therapy Group

An art therapy group designed to help pre-teens and teenagers with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, anxiety, and other disabilities develop self-awareness, coping, creativity and improve relationship skills. Each group member can work on any issue/problem that they are currently dealing with in their life.

Where: The Kids' Place at Fisher-Titus Medical Center
When: Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 p.m. and at the ASK Evening at the Arts on July 21
Dates: 6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18
Ages: 13 and up
Cost: $150

Adapted Cooking Camp

This week-long program is designed to promote social skills, language skills, and problem solving abilities during cooking activities. Children will learn to plan meals and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Material fees are included with the cost of the program. This group is for children ages 7 and up with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, and other neurological disorders.

When: Monday thru Thursday, 10 a.m.- Noon
Dates: 6/19-6/22
Ages: 7 and up
Cost: $150


Creative Campers at the Movies

This week-long program is designed to promote social skills, language skills, and problem solving abilities during fun summer activities and crafts centered on the theme of Movies! Crafts and activities will involve kids’ favorite movies and characters including Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Beauty and The Beast, Winnie the Pooh, Inside Out and more. Material fees are included with the cost of the program. This group is for children ages 6 and up with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, sensory disorders, and other neurological disorders.

When: Monday thru Thursday, 10 a.m.- Noon
Dates: 6/26-6/29
Ages: 6 and up

SMILE Group -“Sensory Motor Integrated Learning Experience” for children on the Autism Spectrum

A six-week program designed for children with autism spectrum and/or sensory disorders. This group will provide fun and structured play/learning experiences with basic social skills included. Emphasis will be on sensory and motor activities, including simple obstacle courses, finger plays, tactile play, snack time, group games, and fine motor coordination games.

When: Wednesdays, 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Dates: 6/21, 6/28, 7/12, 7/19, 7/26, 8/2
Ages: 3-6
Cost: $140


Fine Motor Follies

A five-week program that helps children who are having difficulty with drawing, cutting, coloring, and writing. This group works on foundational fine motor skills and can be used as a primer for the “Printing Made Easy” group. Children must have turned four years of age by March 1 to participate in this program.

When: Fridays, 9:30-11 a.m.
Dates: 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/21, 7/28
Ages: 4-6

Printing Made Easy

This group will focus on incorporating all of our senses to improve the basic skills involved in handwriting and will utilize the “Handwriting Without Tears” program. This combination creates successful printing skills in children who are struggling with letter formation, spacing and line placement. This group is appropriate for children who are already doing well with coloring, cutting, and drawing but still need help with their printing skills.

When: Fridays, 12:30-2 p.m.
Dates: 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/21, 7/28
Ages: 5-7
