Design plans for a new medical office facility to replace Fisher-Titus Family Medicine at 187 West Main Street in New London were presented to Village Council during its meeting on Monday, June 24.
Fisher-Titus President & CEO Dr. Brent Burkey announced plans to break ground for the 3,500- square-foot building this summer.
“We are pleased to be continuing our long history of providing medical services in New London,” said Dr. Burkey. “This new facility will support the work of our New London Family Medicine team who know and support the New London community.”
The new building will feature two medical office suites with each suite having a private entrance with reception areas. The medical building will have a total of eight patient exam rooms, two nurse stations and work areas, and office space for physicians and other providers. Fisher-Titus Family Medicine will occupy one suite, with the second reserved for future health-related services for the community, such as additional providers or specialty clinics.
Janotta & Herner of Monroeville will serve as general contractor for the facility which is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
The current Fisher-Titus Family Medicine office will remain open during the construction, which requires partial demolition of the building to provide room for parking. When the new facility is ready for move-in, the old office area will be razed, making room for additional parking.
“We are pleased that there will be minimal disruption for our patients during the construction,” said Dr. Jeffrey Harwood of Fisher-Titus Family Medicine, New London.
Dr. Harwood and Certified Nurse Practitioner Haley Robuck provide a complete range of medical care for patients of all ages, and offer convenient daytime hours and expanded evening hours.
Dr. Harwood has been serving New London patients since 1989 when he opened New London Family Practice, and affiliated with Fisher-Titus Medical Center. In 2015 the practice became part of Fisher-Titus Medical Care, a multispecialty group of health-care providers employed by Fisher-Titus. New London native Haley Robuck joined the practice as a nurse practitioner in 2017.
“Our entire staff is excited to be able to serve our patients with this modern, family-friendly facility,” said Dr. Harwood. “We look forward of continuing our tradition of providing care to the generations of families we have known for decades, as well as being involved in and supporting community activities.”
The Family Medicine office serves as an Rx Pick-up location for patients and community members to have prescriptions delivered from Norwalk’s Kaiser Community Pharmacy. There will be no disruption to those services during construction.
“We appreciate the assistance we have received from the Village Administrator Shawn Pickworth in bringing this project to fruition,” said Dr. Burkey. “Village Administration officials have been extremely helpful.”
