Beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, August 28, Fisher-Titus will be implementing visitation guidelines based on the statewide color alert system for COVID-19.
“We know the local COVID-19 situation is constantly changing,” said Dr. Brent Burkey, president & CEO of Fisher-Titus. “We wanted to update our visitation guidelines to reflect the long-term, dynamic nature of the pandemic by safely allowing visits when community spread is low. We will continue to do everything we can to protect our patients and staff by taking precautions even as visitors re-enter our facilities.”
The new visitation guideline system has four levels: yellow, orange, red, and purple. The levels are based on the statewide color alert system which uses data about how COVID-19 is spreading at the state and county level.
The guidelines for each level are as follows:
- Yellow: Limited visitation between the hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m. for all COVID-19 negative patients at the hospital and visitation during scheduled appointments at outpatient offices and procedures at the hospital without hospital stay; 24/7 visitation for Emergency Department and pediatric patients; 24/7 visitation for Labor and Delivery patients while they are in labor; scheduled, outdoor, physically distanced, visitation for long term care residents (1 visitor per resident, per day); non-clinical services (medical records, Shady Lane Café, Gift Shop, etc.) will be open to the public
- Orange: 1 designated visitor for all COVID-19 negative patients at the hospital and outpatient offices; 1 parents or guardians for pediatric patients; scheduled, outdoor, physically distanced visitation for long term care residents (1 visitor per resident, per day)
- Red: No visitors at the hospital and outpatient offices; 1 visitor during fetal ultrasounds for prenatal appointments; 1 designated visitor for labor and delivery patients; 1 parent or guardian for pediatric patients; no visitors for long term care residents.
- Purple: No visitors at the hospital and outpatient offices; 1 visitor during labor for labor and delivery patients, 1 parent or guardian for pediatric patients; no visitors for long term care residents.
COVID-19 positive patients will not be allowed visitors except for pediatric patients (1 parent or guardian) and labor and delivery patients (1 visitor during labor).
Visitation levels will be updated on Thursday evenings and implemented to following morning should there be a change from the previous week. Updates will be posted at all entrances and communicated via Fisher-Titus Facebook, Instagram, and website. Fisher-Titus reserves the right to change to a level that differs from the county’s state-issued level based on an internal decision process.
In addition, scheduled, outside visitation for long-term care residents at Norwalk Memorial Home, Fisher-Titus Transitional Care Unit, and Carriage House will begin on Saturday, August. 30. For loved ones wanting to visit with their resident, please contact the respective facility.
If a care team at Fisher-Titus believe the guidelines may have an impact on the quality of a patient’s care, they may make recommendations for exceptions to these guidelines. When appropriate, these circumstances would be approved through the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Nursing Officer. Families should discuss concerns with the patient's care team.
In an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 during visitations, patients and visitors must follow all posted guidelines at all Fisher-Titus facilities. Visitors will have their temperature taken upon arrival, be required to wear a mask, and follow distancing guidelines while visiting. If you are not feeling well, we ask that you do not visit a patient at any Fisher-Titus facility.
