Fisher-Titus Medical Center, in affiliation with Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute, offers patients the help they need in preventing or managing blood clots at the Anticoagulation & Thrombosis Management Clinic.
Supervised by John Abboud, MD, Snyder/White Heart & Vascular Center’s Medical Director, the clinic is staffed with registered nurses trained to assist cardiovascular patients with a variety of care needs.
Patients taking Coumadin® or oral thrombin inhibitors can conveniently schedule blood tests for dosing, monitoring and management; arrange renal function monitoring; refill prescriptions; receive the latest educational materials about possible drug and food interactions; schedule regular blood pressure checks; engage in direct communication with the Fisher-Titus Primary Care and Medical community; participate in point-of-care testing; and consult with providers, caregivers and other cardiovascular medication patients.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) patients may utilize the new clinic for guideline-based initiation, monitoring and discontinuation of appropriate anticoagulation therapy; coordination of anticoagulation therapy, including lab test orders and medication adjustment, reaction monitoring and compliance; initiation of compression therapy and hypercoagulable workups; and educational consultations with patients, caregivers and providers.
Patients must have a physician referral to access the Anticoagulation & Thrombosis Management Clinic’s services. For more information, call 419-660-2717.
