Fisher-Titus Information Services Employees Receive Certification Through Ohio TechCred Grants
Two Fisher-Titus Information Services employees have received advanced certifications through the Ohio TechCred grant program. Colton Hall and Matthew Wyant, help desk technicians, both completed Core 1 of the CompTIA A+ exam. The CompTIA A+ course is an industry standard in the information technology field.
“Earlier this year, Allen Baum, our manager, brought up the potential opportunity to work towards a certification to extend our knowledge in the field,” said Hall. “It’s an extremely beneficial certification to acquire and the opportunity to work towards this certification means a lot to me.”
TechCred Ohio is a program to help Ohioans learn new skills and help employers build a stronger workforce with the skills needed in a technology-infused economy. Many of the trainings can be completed online. The technology-focused credentials take a year or less to earn and prepare employees for technology-based jobs.
“I am very glad my leaders had the confidence to allow us to take these,” Wyant said. “This will allow me to better support our end users and further improve their confidence in me.”
To date, Fisher-Titus has been awarded around $12,000 in grant funding through TechCred Ohio. This has allowed us to support 17 employees across many departments, including Information Services, Imaging, Human Resources, Revenue Cycle, and more in learning new skills and earning new credentials.
“This grant provides funds to upskill our employees,” said Jessica Khaledi, vice president, Business Development. “Some employees are taking courses to increase their expertise with Excel. Imaging was able to gain advanced certifications with some mammography technology. These grants assist us in supporting our staff and their career goals as well as our goal of making Fisher-Titus the best place to work.”
Hall and Wyant are now working toward earning their Core 2 certification.
“I am grateful that our leaders have our best interest in mind and are able to provide us with this great opportunity,” Hall said. “This certification will help further my knowledge in our field and help me better support our end users.”
